Richard Botta was appointed Post Adjutant for the Whitcomb-Baker Post 4633 of the Veterans of Foreign Wars of the U.S on September 8, 2025, in Hampden, Maine by Commander Curtis Slininger.

Richard served in the Oklahoma Army National Guard from January1990 to February 2002, then the Oregon Army National Guard from February 2002 to January 2023. He was assigned as an Active Guard-Reserve (AGR) from June of 2002 until his retirement in January of 2023. His assignments included Fire Control NCO (1-189 FA OKARNG), Fire Team Leader and Forward Observer (1-179 IN OKARNG), Artillery Instructor (1-89 FA OKRTI), Senior Fire Control NCO (2-218 FA ORARNG), Movement and Maneuver NCO (HHC 41 BCT), and Artillery Master Gunner (2-218 FA).  Richard had 1 combat tour in support of IOF 9-10 where he served with 41 BCT at the Brigade EW NCO.
