Christopher Pelkey Sr. was elected Junior Vice Commander for Whitcomb-Baker Post 4633 of the Veterans of Foreign Wars in Hampden, Maine on June 3, 2020.
Chris served in the active duty United States Navy from September 1989 through October 2009. His main job throughout his career was as an Aviation Structural Mechanic. He was also a Nondestructive Inspection Technician, Production Control Leading Petty Officer, Quality Assurance Leading Petty Officer and command Safety Officer. Chris served in Desert Shield and Desert Storm on board the USS Ranger (CV-61) with VS-38, in Kosovo on board the USS Theodore Roosevelt (CVN-71) and in Support of OEF/OIF on board the USS Harry S. Truman (CVN-75) and with VP-10 and VP-26 in Al Udeid Qatar.
Chris' grandfather, a WWII veteran began paying for his dues at VFW Post 4527 in Orrington, Maine shortly after Desert Storm in 1993. Chris transferred his membership to a Life Membership in 2011. In 2018, He joined the Hampden Post 4633 and began working as an active member, there.
Chris and his wife, Lisa, reside in Hampden with their two fur kids, Myra the dog and Walker the cat. Chris and Lisa have two adult children, Christopher Schultz and Christopher Pelkey Jr. (CJ) CJ is serving at Kessler AFB as a Communications Technician in the Air Force Reserves.
